Avoid saying “I need a vacation from this vacation”

During the holiday season — and summer in the southern hemisphere — people take vacations to leave all the stress from work and home behind. However, many make a fatal mistake: instead of planning to relax, they go for go-go-go vacations with packed schedules that leave them even more exhausted.

If you’re taking a break to recover from stress, I suggest planning some “recovery experiences”:

  • Make space for relaxing activities, such as reading, meditating, and working out 🧘🏽‍♂️
  • Get a good sleep every night of your trip 🛌
  • Plan for “outside the box” activities, such as hiking and trail running, or something more stimulating like bungee-jumping, paragliding, and water-rafting 🏄🏻‍♀️
  • Pamper yourself and make a spa appointment or a nice beach massage 🛀🏻

During your #holiday, plan to reduce the amount of time spent on your phone, computer or tablets (or try to avoid electronics altogether📱). Another good piece of advice: draft your reentry strategy. All of these activities will help you recover and actually enjoy your holiday, and avoid the dreaded “I need a vacation from this vacation” state of mind. 💆🏾
